A while back, I wrote this fantastical piece in a fit of frustration after reading a news article.
The scenario was an inverted reality. So far, it hasn’t really happened. But it helped me see how stupid some of the excuses were around the abuses women face in their daily lives.
Let’s imagine it. Let’s imagine a patriarchal world where men were raped.
How?
Oh, it’s easy…. just like men, this world suddenly has women with uncontrollable urges. Women with testosteroney-estrogen flowing through their veins, throbbing and pushing them to humiliate men and control them.
Are you looking for logic… already???
Really… you need logic to understand uncontrollable female emotions? Now? (but men don’t need any reason whatsoever!)
So where were we?
Yes…
News is thick. The PM’s personal assistant has made an attempt on the PM. The Chief Minister was groped by the working lady in his office. Oh, the poor guy taking a bus to his work was catcalled (yes, cats are male). And that construction worker hid from the female boss because she gave him the ‘look’.
The worst: 3 rapes reported in the slums.
All 14-year-old boys. They were raped by a 34-year-old woman. News has it that she was their teacher. She has it all on video. Possibly posted to some porn site.
News flash: lawyers have decided to take it to the streets. Finally, someone is protesting the ‘rapes of men’. It’s outrageous, they claim.
They are saying they might start an ‘Aadmi March’. A day to ‘celebrate’ men’s rights. But the upper clergy of women is not happy. They plan to throw soiled tampons and pads into the gathering to make a point.
Can’t men have any peace of mind?
It’s been a month since the three boys were raped. Men have decided to call workplace strikes- they need legislation protecting ‘their integrity and person’. Meanwhile, women gather in cafes and pubs to celebrate their wins. They talk about their ‘scores’.
The judge has received a petition. Men are insisting on new legislation. They want punishment for such filthy women. But the judge can not do anything. His hands are tied by…. wait what, the ‘law’ itself!
Psychologists are warning of the long-term harm of this behaviour. They warn women not to become used to this behaviour. They warn how this will affect their psyche.
They also warn of its effect on men, how they will lose their grip on reality, and how their salvation will become a figment of imagination.
But no one cares!
Women enjoy touching and feeling men in public. They can’t help hooting. They love staring. They know it will be long before the law even bothers to catch up with them.
The men, on the other hand….. are helpless.
