Looking at strings of words and wondering, for the nth time, what will actually happen.

Ideally, they should create growth, solve a problem, make something clearer or at the very least earn their keep.

But meaningful impact is rarely accidental.

Over the years, my work has moved beyond words alone. I’ve written and edited for businesses, built websites, worked on digital projects and founded a few things.

The common thread has never really been the format. It’s been the figuring things out.

What does this actually need?
What is getting in the way?
What could be clearer, simpler or done differently?

Somewhere between thinking and doing is usually where the interesting part begins.

Because a good idea on paper is only the beginning.

The real test is what happens when it meets budgets, people, deadlines, technology, changing priorities and the wonderfully inconvenient friction of the real world.

After all, the world is full of beautiful theories.

There are, by far, fewer that work.
